This is the dreaded “work smarter not harder” discussion that we must have in order to move forward. I always hated it when people said this, BUT IT IS THE TRUTH!!

Inspiration versus systems

This Business Systems Series is specifically designed for you to walk away from it with an action plan in place so that you can know what you are doing every single week in your business in order to work towards your quarterly and annual goals and successfully manage your tasks and time in your business.

Here is the deal, most of us decided to start a business in order to help change how our families look, to pay off debt, give more, give our children better experiences and activities, or just have more. Whatever your goals are, you have them. You want to contribute financially while also raising your children from home. However, you do not sign up for how incredibly hard it has been. Juggling your children and working hard in your business is difficult. It truly does require skills. Skills are not laid out and probably weren’t taught to you unless you are from an entrepreneurial family.

It is a lot of hard work and many of you are working constantly. I have yet to work with a mom who shows up for one of my sessions or purchases my courses who says they are actually showing up for their business, is working 20 hours a week, and spends the rest of the time with their children. No! They all say they are working 24/7. Their minds never shut off. They are still thinking about it in their sleep. They are restless and constantly thinking about how to get their children to do their own thing for a few minutes so they can get their work done.

I know! I know your struggles and you are not getting the return from all that energy and all the time you are putting inside of your business and it is simply because you are working a lot harder than you should be.

You don’t have to work 24/7 in order to do a good job in your business and you don’t have to look busy to feel busy in order to run a successful business.

What can do to start working smarter and stop working harder?

Begin by removing all of your emotionally generated tasks. What does this mean? You are currently creating work for yourself because it makes you feel busy. It makes you feel like you are doing something. What you really need to be doing is ditching all of those emotions and coming up with a plan that allows you to profit. That is why you started the business, right? This is not a hobby. This is your business!

You started this business in order to make money for whatever those reasons might be to you. You had an idea and it was solely based on you making money off of it. So you need to have a plan in place that allows you to move towards profit. It allows you to move towards putting money into your pocket, your bank account, tithing, your children’s saving account, and whatever other reason you started this business.

Work towards your reason for your business. This is why I created the alignment step as one of the key pillars in the Systemize You Business Tier of Systemize Your Life Academy. This step is a huge part of it. I want you to stop working based on emotion and work to accomplish tasks that generate profit. That is what you signed up to do. That is what makes you feel good, moves your business forward, and funds the accounts and activities that you started this whole business for in the first place.

Where do you get your profit plan from?

You get it from your annual plan. Go back to Day 2 if you need a refresher on how to create this and how it equates to your daily tasks. If you are truly operating in alignment with your goals for your business for the year, all of that should be able to be tracked back to you working towards profit every single day.

Here is the thing, it is absolutely NOT necessary to work 24/7 and YOU KNOW IT! There is not one mom that has said that proudly to me who is working 60 hours a week, working constantly, or always in her office. None of them are proud of this and neither are you when you look at your husband or children and you are in need of more time. All of that time you are using right now, I know you don’t feel good about it. That is why you are here.

Get some help to move forward

If what you are doing doesn’t lead to you generating more money and it only makes you feel busy, you need to fix it. How do you fix it? I fixed it by hiring a business coach. When I got to a place where I didn’t know what to do next, I hired a business coach. I have a business coach and I will always from this day forward have a business coach.

You have someone totally in your corner. Not everyone absolutely needs a business coach. But I can tell you that it was 100% what helped me to know what to put in my profit plan when I was lost and it helped to maximize every single thing that I did in my business. The choices weren’t based on emotion or throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what stuck. Again, some people can work this way and that is ok.

Here is what I am trying to teach you, even if you don’t hire a coach if you sit down and you write out your annual plan and the steps you need to take to reach your annual plan, but it has brought you $0, you need to figure out why and you need to stop doing those things and you need to educate yourself.

You need to change your plan

Are you tracking your income?

Are you tracking your expenses?

Do you know where your money is going?

Do you know what’s coming in and going out?

Do you know where your needs are?

Do you know where your relationships are?

Are you actually doing things that can promote profit and propel your business in the direction that you want it to go?

Do you have systems in place to be able to support this?

How to begin to work smarter?

You sit down. You look at the system and you figure it out. You don’t get discouraged about what’s going on. It’s not about you. It’s not about your idea.

Are you called to be where you are right now in the business that you are in?

Do you believe with all your heart this is what you are supposed to be doing?

YES! Alright then, what do you need to fix or change?

How do you move forward?

How do you improvise?



This is something you are going to have to learn whether you are a newbie in business or lightyears ahead of me! You have to learn to work smarter not harder. Get rid of the hustle!

You don’t have to work 24/7 in order to do a good job in your business and you don’t have to look busy to feel busy in order to run a successful business.

So what’s the missing link here?

How do we get to a place where we are not working 24/7?

How do you get to this place where you are not constantly feeling like you have to work 60 hours a week without turning your brain off?

Well, you have to know what it is you are supposed to be doing in your business and how much time it takes to do it every single day.

How do you make that happen?

This is how. Here is your homework. Do these 2 things:

  1. Go back to Day 2 and look at your action items for the upcoming month. Pull the very first action item from your list. Write down every single task you must do to complete the goal for this action item.
  2. Calculate how many hours you actually need to accomplish all of these tasks in order to complete the first action item on your list.

Once you learn how to do this in this very segmented and specific way, we then begin to amplify that and extend it out to other areas of your business. That is what I have put together for you in the Systemize Your Business Tier of the Systemize Your Life Academy.
