Productivity

When the weekend rolls around and feels like a nonstop whirlwind of activities, obligations, and exhaustion—with zero time to breathe, let alone do a weekend reset for the week ahead… I’ve been there. Who even has time for that? How do people make it all work?

Listen Below For The Entire Episode On The Systemize Your Life Podcast

Listen, you are not alone in this. But here’s the good news—I’ve got you. In this episode, I’m breaking down six simple weekend resets that will completely change the way you step into your week. These are the exact things I do to keep my home, my business, and my sanity in check—so I’m ready for Monday instead of dreading it.

If you’re over the chaos and craving a routine that actually works, this is for you. Let’s flip the script together, friend. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Welcome back to Systemize Your Life! Today, I’m sharing the six things I do every weekend to make my week smoother and way more productive. These aren’t just random tasks—they’re the strategies that have completely transformed how I show up for my home, my family, and my work. My weekends are now intentionally aligned with my weekly goals, and it’s been a game-changer.

Here’s the thing—I don’t work a traditional 9-to-5. My weekends aren’t about prepping for a commute on Monday morning. My weekends are about running a home, pouring into my marriage, taking care of myself, and leading a company—so that when Monday hits, I’m not already running on empty.

And today, I’m sharing exactly how I do it. These six resets? They’re simple. They’re doable. And I promise you—they will change how you manage your time, your home, and your business. Let’s jump in!

Six Things I Do Every Weekend To Reset My Life

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Chelsi Jo, and I’m here to help you take your home and business from total overwhelm to complete organization. And today? We’re diving into the six core things I do every weekend to reset my life—so that when Monday rolls around, I’m ready to tackle the week, not scrambling to catch up.

We’re jumping straight in, and yes—I know six things might sound like a lot. But trust me, these systems are so dialed in that they practically run on their own. So grab a piece of paper, number it one through six, and be ready to take notes. At the end of this, I’m going to walk you through exactly how I fit all of this in and what it looks like in my real life.

You already know I’m about to break down my go-to weekend resets, but more than that, I want you to see how these play out in my home, in my business, and in my routines. Ready? Let’s do this!

Simple Weekend Reset #1 – Unplug from Work

The very first thing I do every weekend is completely unplug from work.

Sounds counterintuitive, right? But trust me, this is a game changer. And no, it’s not perfect every weekend, which is why I have systems in place to hold me accountable. But for the most part? It’s non-negotiable.

For me, that usually means shutting down social media. Some weekends, I’m in a creative flow and love sharing. Other weekends? My phone disappears (sometimes literally), and I’m all in with my family.

Weekend-Reset-The-Ultimate-Guide-For-A-Productive-Week-chelsijo

Now, are there weekends when I squeeze in a quick work block? Sure. But it’s intentional—it serves me. It doesn’t drain me.

The key? Boundaries. You can’t start Monday feeling fresh if you never actually step away. So set the boundary, stick to it, and give yourself permission to fully unplug.

Weekend Reset #2 – Reset Your Home

Alright, number two is, a hard reset on my house every single weekend.

Weekends are for fun and family, but they’re also for bringing everything back to home base. That means tidying up, deep cleaning, and making sure our space feels good.

Zone cleaning happens here, but tidying? Non-negotiable. The girls know their spaces, bedrooms get reset to “company-ready” (yep, that’s my rule!), and we make sure the house feels refreshed.

Our home is lived in—trust me, the loft is play-central. But after a couple of weeks of full-blown hotel pretend play? It’s time to check out.

This reset keeps our space clear so creativity, work, and life can flow—because when your environment is reset, your mind is too.

#3 – Reset Your Schedule

Third, I am resetting my schedule. This one is non-negotiable.

I live by a hybrid planning system—Google Calendar + a paper planner. This combo is everything when it comes to managing my time. And every weekend, I reset it.

The structure is already there, but I take the time to adjust for the week ahead. Is there an appointment cutting into a work block? I will shift my time. Does date night need to move? We reschedule it. These little tweaks make sure that when Monday hits, I already know what’s happening—no scrambling.

This reset keeps my week running smoothly, my priorities in check, and helps me show up fully for my home, business, and family!

Weekend Reset #4 – Review Your Finances

The fourth thing we are resetting is our finances. This may not be the most exciting weekend task, but it is essential.

I teach a budgeting system built right into my Home Management System—it’s how we manage money every single week. If you’re in Systemize to Scale, you already know this is key to growing your business without sacrificing your family. And even if you’re not growing a business, this method has helped thousands of women gain control of their finances.

Now, let’s be real—I’m not the financial lead in my house. I built this system using everything Blaine and I have learned (shout out to Dave Ramsey and Mike Michalowicz), and together, we track every penny.

The key? Consistency. Every weekend, we check in, track our spending, and make sure we’re being intentional with our money. And honestly? It’s freeing.

If you’re not already doing a weekly money check-in, start this weekend. Just 10–15 minutes can completely change how you feel about your finances!

#5 – Meal Plan & Prep

Number five is meal planning. You knew this one was coming!

If I don’t reset our meals every weekend, it’s chaos. So here’s the system:

  • Grocery list is made
  • The Fridge gets stocked
  • Meals are planned and prepped
  • The Menu board gets updated (so no one asks, “What’s for dinner?” 5,000 times a day)

Why does this matter? Because without a plan, we either grab food on the go (expensive) or we don’t eat right. For Blaine and me, nutrition is a must—we need high-protein meals to stay strong and healthy. And let’s be real—eating out adds up fast. I’ve timed it—meal prepping actually saves time and money.

Tonight, we’re eating out for a birthday, but it was planned for, and budgeted for. That’s the beauty of a solid meal plan—fewer decisions, less stress, and total control over your time, health, and budget. If you’re not doing this yet, start this weekend—it’ll change everything!

Weekend Reset #6 – Reset Work Tasks

Last, but definitely not least, I am resetting my work tasks every weekend. This is a must, or Monday will be a total mess.

If you’ve been here a while, you know I swear by business systems. Maybe you’ve tried Asana, Trello, ClickUp, or even just Post-it notes everywhere—sound familiar? But here’s the difference: I don’t waste time figuring out what to do. My tasks repeat every week, so when I sit down, I already know what’s next. No guesswork. No scrambling. Just focused work that actually moves the needle.

This is exactly what I teach in Systemize to Scale—because if you’re growing a business without sacrificing your family, you have to reset your work every week.

I aim to do this on Fridays, but life happens—sometimes it’s the weekend, and that’s okay. The point? When Monday hits, I have two intentional hours of work planned, not five. No staring at a never-ending to-do list. No wondering where to start. Just a system that works. Trust me—this will change how you work.

Recap – Your Weekend Reset Plan

I know you’re thinking, “Chelsi, there are SIX things on this list, and I just spent 14 hours at sports, errands, laundry, church… and now it’s Sunday night, and nothing’s done.”

I get it. Just last night, I was knocking out resets at 9:45 p.m. because here’s the thing—this isn’t just a checklist. This is my life. The work I was called to do. And no schedule, exhaustion, or distractions are going to stop me (or you) from showing up.

But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Think about the time that slips away between Friday and Sunday—scrolling, overthinking, feeling stuck. What if some of that went into setting up a smoother week?

Some weekends, I reset on the go, in the car, or squeezed between events. Other times, I get that dreamy slow Sunday—fresh sheets, happy kids, a quiet moment to breathe. It’s magic. But it’s not always like that, and that’s okay.

The only reason I make this happen every weekend? Systems. Delegation. Streamlining. And you don’t have to do it alone. Let’s break it down together.

“The key to a smooth, stress-free week isn’t luck—it’s a solid weekend reset that sets you up for success.”

How I Make It Happen

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes peek at what this actually looks like in my life.

First up—finances. Blaine handles 100% of it. When it’s time for our weekend financial reset, I just ask, “Did you take care of this?” and that’s it. Off my plate, total win.

When it comes to laundry, we all pitch in. The kids do their own loads, and they help with shared loads. They also know exactly where everything goes. It’s not all on me, which makes leading them so much easier. When the system works, delegating is simple!

Meal planning and prepping involves the whole family. We plan together, check the calendar, and decide on meals. The kids either help shop or give me my solo time. Once we’re home, everyone pitches in—restocking, washing fruit, portioning for the freezer. It’s all hands on deck, and it makes life so much easier.

Blaine also runs the Google Calendar now. He keeps everything updated, checks in on date nights, and makes sure things are rotating as they should. It wasn’t always this way, but after years of fine-tuning our system, he’s fully capable—and he loves being involved.

Managing the family calendar used to be all on me, but after some time and practice, I’ve been able to hand it off.

Cleaning and tidying. Everyone has their zone, which makes resetting a breeze. The kids know exactly what to do—Bailey handles the living room, picking up dog toys, folding blankets, and putting remotes in their bin. These quick resets keep everything running smoothly without it all falling on me.

And work? I used to reset my own tasks, but now my assistant and team handle it. My business runs like a well-oiled machine, and I don’t have to do it all myself.

My goal for every student in Systemize to Scale is to reach this point—where hiring your first assistant changes everything. Sitting down on Monday with tasks already set? It’s magic. And the best part is, I didn’t need to hire a specialist to make this happen—I built it, and you can too.

Six-Things-I-Do-Every-Weekend-To-Reset-My-Life-chelsijo

The key? Having a solid home management system so you can show up fully for your work blocks. Once your tasks are systemized and repeatable, it’s easy for someone else to step in and help run the machine you’ve built.

With all this teamwork, very little of these six resets fall only on me—and that’s the beauty of systems. If you’re thinking, “Wow, I need this,” or you’re close to where you want to be, keep diving in! You can make this happen.

Ready to Reset Together?

Okay, let’s do a quick recap! The six things I do every weekend are:

  1. Unplug from work
  2. Reset my house
  3. Reset my schedule
  4. Review my finances
  5. Meal plan and prep for the week ahead
  6. Set up my planner & reset my work tasks

The best part is that I’m not doing this alone. By involving my family and creating a team environment at work, I’ve built systems that run like clockwork without all the heavy lifting.
