The Deeper Story Behind Our Actions As Moms
Every conversation with a mom, whether it’s in line at the store or in a casual setting, often reveals what’s overwhelming her at the moment. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with a group of high-performing women, and the discussion was fascinating. These aren’t the usual women I’m around, which made me even more eager to hear every word they shared. What they talked about most of the time was truly enlightening.
Spoiler Alert: Every Mom Faces The Same Challenges
Whether you’re a homeschooling mom or running a full-blown business to support your family, the struggle is identical. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you do—every mom faces the same challenges, day in and day out. The key is finding that middle ground where balance occurs.
It took me almost six years of really sitting down and dissecting what I’ve been learning, as I’ve led so many women through my systems. What I’ve found to be true is that the question of how to stay consistent with the people you love, your home, yourself, and the work you want to do, is a resounding concern for every mother. If I’ve heard it once, I’ve heard it a million times—there’s no such thing as ‘perfect balance.” But finding a rhythm that works for you is possible, and that’s what we’re diving into.
“I sincerely believe that moms CAN show up hard and truly have the best of both worlds of home and business.”
Is Balance Achievable? Can Moms Really Do It All?
I’m curious—do you think balance is truly achievable? Maybe you’re here because the idea of balance sounds appealing. You might feel like if you work hard enough, you can achieve what seems like balance, just like some other women appear to have from the outside looking in. Or maybe you think you can do it all and just need the right systems to make it happen. Let’s explore this together and see what’s really possible.
My answer might surprise you. The truth is, no, we can’t do it all. But let me tell you about a moment that really tested my beliefs. One day, I was talking with a woman who had stepped away from her business for over a year. She was struggling with what that meant for her identity, and she challenged me, saying, “I don’t think it’s possible to do both home and business well.”
We were chatting around a table, and the conversation turned to what I do and how I genuinely believe women can manage both. When she responded with skepticism, it felt like a punch to the gut. It was like standing toe-to-toe with the opposition to my mission. For a moment, I was taken aback, questioning everything. But then I said, “But I’m doing it.” She asked if I was just saying that because I believe in what I teach. I’ve asked myself that question countless times, but the reality is—I am doing it.
The Best Of Both Worlds- Home And Business
The conversation flowed from there, and she admitted she hadn’t found peace and rhythm in her journey yet. It was a moment of enlightenment for me. Maybe you haven’t found that peace and rhythm in your journey either. If you haven’t found your balance, I want to share with you what keeps me going in this incredible juggle of home and business.
No, we can’t do it all, but yes, we can have the best of both worlds. It’s hard work, but as I always say, would you rather work extremely hard and end your days, weeks, and years of raising your children with the satisfaction of knowing you did it with intention and did it well? That’s the goal—to look back and say, “That was the best I had to give, and I did it well.”
Two Phases To Achieving Balance and Doing It All
Here’s what I’ve discovered—there are two phases to achieving balance, and I highly recommend tackling them in this order. Phase one is your home. Phase two is your business. To create balance, there are three essential things you need to do within your home and your business.
Do It All Blueprint Phase One: Home
Phase one is your home. If you want to achieve balance, there are three things you need to do inside your home.
- Get your house under control. This means decluttering and organizing all your stuff. It might seem overwhelming, but you know it’s a problem that needs addressing.
- Get your schedule under control. Are you doing too much? Are your kids over-scheduled? Or maybe you’re not doing enough because you’re wasting time in multiple areas. Streamline your schedule to make it more manageable.
- Establish routines. Without consistent routines, you’ll struggle to find balance. Even women who outsource everything still need routines. Automate these tasks so that your family starts doing the heavy lifting together. This way, you won’t need to outsource as much, and everyone contributes to keeping things running smoothly.
Do It All Blueprint Phase Two: Business
Phase two is your business. Whether it’s a new idea or you’ve been hustling for seven years, feeling drained and resented by everyone around you, your business needs attention.
There are three crucial things here.
- Get your work blocks organized. You can’t just squeeze work into the cracks of your day whenever your kids are momentarily entertained. You need to be strategic about when you’re working.
- Get organized in your business. Ditch the pen and paper and set up effective systems. Establish routines in your business just like in your home. Without routines, you’ll always be scrambling.
- Find good business mentors or strategies. This is vital. You need someone to help you get operationally strategic and someone to guide you in marketing—creating and selling your offers, and bringing people into your world. Pairing these aspects is crucial because you don’t want to spend time on your business for it to go nowhere.
Remember, your business is a work in progress, and these are the two phases you need to keep working on consistently. Implement these strategies over and over again to find the balance and success you’re striving for.
